The team at OrthoCincy is reminding all of us that if you have had a procedure delayed in this pandemic, it may be time for you to reach out to someone if you’re still in pain and haven’t had some pre-surgery appointments scheduled.
Local 12 stopped out to talk to the team at Dr. Jonathan Slaughter’s office. He’s an orthopaedic upper extremity specialist at OrthoCincy.
Dr. Slaughter and Dr. Nick Gates said they want everyone to know if you’re waiting for foot, ankle, hip, knee, shoulder, bone or joint help, they’re here.
“It’s a very stressful time for everybody,” said Dr. Slaughter. “We’ve never closed our doors. We’re doing everything we can. We’ve increased our virtual visits to stay in contact, but we’re willing to see you. If you feel you might have an urgent -- or had something elective that has become semi-urgent, give us a call. We are trying to contact people on the list, to get ahold of you. If you haven't heard and you think you need help, give me a call. I will see you. I will see you in-person, virtually, if needed, so you stay safe in this time but don't feel like you've been abandoned. We are here for you.”
If you’re wondering if your procedure is necessary, the question to ask is how is it interfering with your everyday life? If it’s preventing you from doing things, they suggest you come in to see that you can get back to what you want to do for activities each day.
“We want to help people get back to feeling normal again, or as close to normal as possible. To get back into sports,” said Dr. Slaughter. “Back to work and feel like you can do your job again.”
