ERLANGER, Ky. (WKRC) – With so many athletes sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols or even just pausing for Christmas break, the team at OrthoCincy reminds us there is free training program you can find online through the Orthopaedic Institute.
The program was designed by a team of doctors, athletic trainers and professionals from OrthoCincy, St. Elizabeth Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Physician that make up the Orthopaedic Institute, This team realized they were seeing a lot of injuries, especially after COVID-19 sports pauses, due to inconsistent training. So, they designed several videos for both male and female athletes to specifically focus on one of the most common areas for injuries: ACL and knee injuries.
"So, the data that's available suggests that any quality injury-prevention program could potentially reduce your risk of knee ACL injury by about 50%, and that would entail stretching, coordination, balance, reception and then strength and agility training,” said Dr. Adam Metzler, an orthopedic surgeon at OrthoCincy. “The combination of those together is designed to help to reduce your injury risk.
